St. George’s, Grenada. June 16, 2015: Following on Republic Bank’s commitment to shaping lives and effecting change in the communities it serves, the Bank has assisted in reviving the life of the New Life Organization – St. Andrew’s Learning Centre.
The Centre, which provides life and vocational skills training opportunities for disadvantaged youth, was forced to relocate to temporary facilities on several occasions, after its building was destroyed in the passage of Hurricane Ivan. Republic Bank has answered positively to the request of the school by contributing $50,000.00 (FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS) towards the refurbishment of the training facility to the new Life Centre, now relocated to Mt. St. Ervans, St. Andrew.
In addition, through the Bank’s Staff Volunteerism programme, launched in November 2014, the management, staff and immediate families of the Grenville Cluster, came together to assist with painting, cleaning and beautifying the newly refurbished centre.
Coordinator of the Life Centre, Sr. Cornelia Darimaani, praised the Bank’s for its generous outpouring of support for the institution, not just financially, but through the Staff Volunterism programme. She said: “We are eternally grateful to Republic Bank for coming to our assistance. The gesture of selflessness on the part of the Staff in giving their time to help the students settle into their new location will further help to motivate the students to learn and develop, knowing there are persons out there interested in their personal well being.”
A ceremonial “gift” presentation was made to the school on Tuesday, June 15, 2015 by officials from the Bank’s Marketing and Public Relations department. Work is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
