St. George’s Grenada; April 26, 2021: Republic Bank congratulates St. David, the new champions in the Republic Bank/GCA RightSTART Under-19 Cricket Tournament. St. David defeated St. Mark in the finals held Saturday, April 24, at the National Stadium.
In a keenly-contested match, St. David batted first, scoring 168 runs in 50 overs. St. Mark, in response, was all out for 140 runs in 33.4 overs; St. David winning by 27 runs. Individual prize winners of the finals are as follows:-
- Kirt Murray, RightSTART Player of the Match (5 Wickets for 32 Runs)
- Jamal Lambert, RightSTART Best Wicket Keeper
- Kirt Murray, RightSTART Best Bowler (15 Wickets)
- Ackeem Auguste, RightSTART Best Batsman (244 Runs)
- Kirt Murray, Tournament MVP
Mr. Dorian Mc Phail, Manager – Retail Services, St. George’s Cluster, attended the game, and assisted with the distribution of prizes to the winners.
In a bonus “all-star” match- up played on Sunday, Team ‘B’, led by Teddy Bishop, won against Team A. Skippered by Kervyn Gangadeen Team ‘A’ scored 205 runs in 48.5 overs. Team B made 207 runs for 7 wickets, in 39.2 overs. The bonus game was played in lieu of the regional Windward Islands U-19 Tournament, as a means of exposing leading players to regional cricket selectors.
Republic Bank congratulates all the participating teams for their display of good sportsmanship throughout the tournament, and thanks the organizers, the Grenada Cricket Association for their leading role in ensuring our youth cricketers are given every opportunity to excel in the sport.
