St. George’s, Grenada; May 08, 2017: It was a victory for St. Andrew at the final of the Republic Bank RightStart/GCA Under 19 Inter-parish Cricket Tournament.
After a well-played game against Carriacou on Sunday May 07th at the Lauriston Mini Stadium, St. Andrew emerged victor, defeating their hosts by 56 runs. The results: St. Andrew 272 all out in 44.5 overs: Darron Nedd 145, Donald Mc Donald 20, Aaron John 3-56; Carriacou 216 all out in 44 overs: Josh Edmund 48, Aaron John 44, Richard Rogers 3-32, Dineon Abraham 3-36.
Individual awards went to: Darron Nedd (Player of the final) - 145 Runs, 94 Balls, 10 fours, 11 sixes; Yohann Jeremiah (Right Start Best Batsman) - 219 Runs; Johann Jeremiah (RightStart MVP) All three players are from St. Andrew. The RightStart Best Bowler award went to Aaron John (Carriacou) with 11 Wickets and the RightStart Best Keeper title was won by Josh Edmund, also from Carriacou.
The RightStart Under 19 Inter-parish tournament provides a basis for selecting players to represent Grenada and the West Indies teams at regional and international Under 19 competitions. Republic Bank is pleased to contribute to this developmental aspect of the sport and extends congratulations to the 2017 champions, St. Andrew. The Bank also congratulates Emmanuel Stewart (Carriacou) and Darron Nedd (St. Andrew) on their selection to represent the West Indies at the upcoming tour of South Africa and Zimbabwe, scheduled for June 28 – July 31, 2017.
