St. George’s, Grenada. February 09, 2014 – Republic Bank celebrated our nation’s 41st Independence in true patriotic style on Friday, February 06, 2015 with performances by the Cultural Keepers folk group, from the St. David’s Catholic Secondary School. The group, led by teacher Mrs. Marlene Neptune, performed several folk and patriotic songs and dances, to the delight of customers and staff at Republic House. Their campaign themed: “Grenadians ROC (Remembering our Culture)”, is aimed at preserving the traditional aspects of our diverse culture.
The students dressed in varying costumes to depict the different cultures of the earlier settlers on the island - Amerindian, European, African, and East Indian. Some of the popular songs performed included “Fair Isle” and “Wake Up Johnny”. To top it off, the group serenaded the public to the “may pole” dance, popular to the parish of St. David.
Republic Bank congratulates the young students on their outstanding efforts at preserving the Grenadian culture and wishes the group well.
