St. George's, Grenada - March 02, 2012. Republic Bank has responded positively to the Grenada Olympic Committee's plea for assistance for Team Grenada, in its effort to win its first Olympic medal at the London Games 2012.
At a press conference held Friday March 02, 2012, the Bank pledged its commitment to the Grenada Olympic Committee in the amount of $50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Dollars).
On making the symbolic presentation, Managing Director of Republic Bank, Keith Johnson, remarked:
"We are honoured to be given the opportunity, through our Power to Make a Difference programme, to contribute to the efforts of the Grenada Olympic Committee (GOC), in ensuring Grenada's participation at the London 2012 Olympics. One must acknowledge the tremendous lift in emotional and psychological well-being our nation experiences when our sons and daughters excel on the world's stage, particularly in the sporting arena.
We trust that our financial assistance to the Grenada Olympic Committee and Team Grenada will motivate other corporate sponsors and the general public to come on board, and we wish the GOC and Team Grenada success at this year's London Olympics."
The Bank's contribution is expected to assist with preparation of the team for the games - training, medical and physiotherapy services, medical insurance, clothing and equipment, among other requirements.
Republic Bank remains committed to the advancement and development of our youth, through sport and extends best wishes for Team Grenada's success at the Games.
