St. George's, Grenada - March 07, 2013 The Grenada School for Special Education held its annual sports meet on Thursday, March 07, 2013 at the Limes Playing Field, Grand Anse. Representatives from the Ministry of Education, Parents and Staff of Republic Bank turned out in full support of the Sports, which created much fun and excitement for the children.
Republic Bank has been supporting the School's sports meet since 2006 by providing medals, trophies, refreshment, music and t-shirts for the games. In declaring the sports opened, Manager, Retail Services, Republic House Cluster, Mrs. Althea Roberts reiterated the Bank's commitment to the event. She said: "Republic Bank has been the proud sponsor of this Sport meet for the past eight (8) years and will continue to support this special event which showcases the talent and abilities of you special boys and girls, because we believe that each of you has great potential to excel and do well."
Close to sixty (60) students sub-divided into four (4) houses - Alexis House (Blue), Britton House (Red), Johnson House (Green) and Hopkin House (Yellow), competed for athletic honours. The event was punctuated by a colourful march past, field events and other fun-filled activities like Lime and Spoon, Puny Mites - Mixed, and two (2) special sponsor's races, involving staff of the Bank. In the end, Britton House emerged champion with 192 points. The Bank congratulates the winners and participants for their excellent sportsmanship. The day's activities concluded with a prize giving ceremony.
