St. George’s, Grenada; February 28, 2017: Republic Bank is pleased to partner with the Local Organizing Committee to host the inaugural Grenada Invitational Meet, to be held April 08, 2017.
In keeping with the Bank’s enviable track-record of supporting the development of youth, through the discipline of Sports, Republic Bank is pleased to contribute to the hosting of this auspicious Meet, as the “Official Bank of the Invitational Meet”. Speaking at a special media conference held February 23rd to announce the major sponsors for the event, Mr. Devon Thornhill, Manager – Retail Services, Grenville Cluster, in his comments, remarked:
“Over the years, Republic Bank has contributed to several sporting disciplines, including Football, Cricket and Triathlon. Notwithstanding, we continually seek opportunities to expand our reach, and, today we are especially proud to add Track & Field to this list, further strengthening our capacity to assisting even more of our youth to nurture and develop successful careers within the field of Sports.
We cannot underscore enough, how great an accomplishment this inaugural Meet will be for Grenada. While some may see this event as another opportunity for some world class entertainment, or, simply an opportunity to boost our economy, for us at Republic Bank, the most positive outcome, though unquantifiable, will be the opportunity it provides to our youth, to emulate some of the best role models in the field.”
In addition to the $25,000 cash sponsorship, Republic Bank’s involvement will see the provision of Merchant Services at the National Stadium, thus enabling patrons to access foreign cash exchange transactions, and/or make credit card purchases from a point-of-sale platform. The additional of this service is a first for the National Stadium, and Republic Bank is pleased to contribute to this initiative, as we seek to promote Grenada as a world-class sports-tourism destination. Over 100 athletes spanning four continents are expected in Grenada for the inaugural Meet.
