St. George’s Grenada; March 22, 2021: Republic Bank is pleased to launch National Learn to Swim Week, 2021. This year’s event will be staged during the period April 06-10, 2021.
The Republic Bank National Learn to Swim Week has become a staple on the events calendar, and is much looked forward to by young persons during the Easter break. For the past six years the Bank has given steady support to the Grenada Youth Adventurers (GYA), the organizers of the event, by providing safety equipment such as noodles and kickboards, refreshment, t-shirts and stipends for the volunteer coaches and lifeguards.
National Learn to Swim Week offers the opportunity to persons wanting to learn basic swimming techniques, at no cost to them. Fifteen (15) beaches and pools around Grenada are identified for this purpose, giving everyone desirous of learning, the chance to do so. These are:
- Bathway Beach
- Grenada Marine, St. David
- Grand Anse (Umbrellas)
- Grand Anse (Camerhogne Park)
- Grand Anse (RC Church)
- Grand Mal (Go Cool steps)

From inception, the programme has received widespread support from the public, by way of volunteers as well as participation from both adults and juniors alike. Over 4,000 persons have benefitted from the lessons provided over the six-year period.
