St. George’s, Grenada; January 25, 2024: March 12-14, 2024 are the dates set for the Republic Bank Inter-Secondary School Athletic Championships (“INTERCOL”).
Republic Bank has, for the third consecutive year, affirmed its commitment as title sponsor of INTERCOL, at a press conference held at the Kirani James Athletics Stadium. Mrs. Naomi De Allie, Managing Director, attended and delivered the title sponsor’s remarks. In her message, she challenged the students to see 2024 as “the year of opportunity for our athletes” She further commented: “Grenada’s hosting of the Junior Carifta games right on the heels of Intercol, should serve as a motivating factor for each student to aspire to do his or her best; to stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone – make that extra push, that extra jump, extra throw, run that extra mile; do whatever you have to do to secure a spot at the Carifta Games and beyond.”
Various other officials attended and delivered remarks as well. They include ACP Douglas of The Royal Grenada Police Force, who outlined measures to be taken to ensure the safety of all attendees at the games. Minister for Youth and Sports, Jonathan La Crette, pledged his ministry’s support, to ensure the games are held at a high standard. Meet Director, Mr. Johnell Mitchell confirmed the reintroduction of Hurdles at this year’s games, and promised filled lanes for this event.
Mrs. De Allie commended the Grenada Association of Principals of Secondary Schools and the Grenada Secondary Schools Games Association and all the various stakeholders for their dedication and support.
Twenty-five secondary schools are expected to participate in this year’s Republic Bank Intercol championships. We look forward to a safe, competitive three days of Intercol, and wish all the athletes every success.
