October 15th marked the Bank’s 35th Anniversary of operations. The first branch was opened in Victoria Street, Grenville, in 1979, only months into the period known as the Revolution. In 1992, then The National Commercial Bank of Grenada Limited (NCB), the Bank became the largest in Grenada. Republic Bank Limited, Trinidad, purchased fifty one (51) percent of the shareholding in NCB from the Government of Grenada. Today, the Bank can boast several impressive achievements, among which are:-
An extensive branch and ATM network
Construction of its Head Office at Maurice Bishop Highway in 1995 and the Relocation of the St. George’s Branch to new premises on Melville Street in 2008.
Rebranding of the Bank from National Commercial Bank to Republic Bank in 2006.
Enlistment of its shares on the Eastern Caribbean Securities Exchange - the first public company in Grenada to do so.
ECCB’s Best Corporate Citizen among commercial banks in the ECCU for a record six (6) occasions, including 2013.
Leading market share in both loans and deposit as well as the largest in terms of asset base.
