× 4

St. George’s – August 04, 2015: Republic Bank joined the rest of the English speaking Caribbean in commemorating the emancipation of African slaves on August 01, 1838.

On Friday, July 31, 2015, branches of the Bank were decorated with traditional items and artefact such as typical hut, tools, goblets, cookware and other traditional household items. Republic House featured the Cultural Keepers Folk Group from St. David’s Catholic Secondary School, while Grenville Branch showcased the Big Drum and Short Knee. Some Staff were also seen donned “African” garb, to recreate styles worn by our ancestors. Customers were also treated to traditional food and drink in the true spirit of emancipation.

Republic Bank remains committed to preserving our rich cultural heritage.
